CURRAN TAKES THE WIN IN NSCA
Bartlett, IL - I made the trip to Belle Rose, LA to see how it would run with nothing touched since Memphis Finals in October and to hook up with my Friends I met 2 years prior at the first Belle Rose Race. I had such a great time the first trip, these people here at the track have to be the nicest bunch of locals I have ever met while racing. Bart and Suzette Dufrain took care of us again with that southern hospitality, they prepared a craw fish boil for us and anyone we brought over. As far as Racing I took the top qualifier position with an 8.078, 171.14 to lead Jim Widener, Roland Lursky, Mike Modeste and Marty Chance into the elimination rounds on Sunday. First round bye for me, Mustang Mike lost on a holeshot as he was experiencing Trans brake issues to Roland Lursky who was nursing a hurt motor, while Jim took out Marty Chance giving him a bye in the Semi finals, I took out Roland in the Semi’s after getting verbally abused from the always entertaining Al Tucci over the PA while waiting in the staging lanes. In the Finals I took the win over Jim 8.07 to a 9.01 as we were side by side about the 330 mark with Jim losing traction and getting out of it. I figured I could be competitive in L/S this year, but taking the win at the Belle Rose race was quite a surprise for me.
