CURRAN RACING TAKES 2 @ PRO “NIGHT OF CHAMPIONS”

Bartlett, IL - On a cool and rainy December 10, 2004 evening at a packed ballroom, Curran Racing attended the PRO “Night of Champions” ceremony in Indianapolis, Indiana, in conjunction with the PRI show. This is where the Organizations recognize not only the Champs of each class but also some specialty awards as well. This year PRO decided to let us, members of the organization, nominate people that we felt were deserving of the awards. As soon as I heard this, I knew I would nominate my friend and Crew Chief /Chef Eric VanBerkum for either Crew Chief or Ambassador of the Year. When the ballots came out, Eric’s and Myself were listed under Ambassador of the Year. I was shocked, but hoped the better man would win. And he DID! Eric has been around this sport longer than anyone I have known. For him to receive this nomination was enough for him. For me, it meant that someone who has been a part of this sport for so long was finally being recognized, by someone other than me. After the announcement was made that Eric was their BEST representative of the sport and the PRO Organization for the 2004 season, he was truly touched and I think a bit shocked. To win this award was the perfect end to a Championship season.

We also took home the 2004 PRO Extreme Street Championship title along with a #1 PRO Jacket and a Very Cool Ring (think Super bowl style) that was created for EVERY champion by Nitto Tires.
